You will need to:
Explain how particular elements of the image or clip function as signs, producing connotations that encourage the viewer to interpret the people it depicts in a particular way.
Discuss how this depiction of the people in the image or clip may shape our understanding of particular social categories.
You do not need to present your essay in separate sections, but make sure that you cover both of these aspects of the assignment.
Your analysis should include consideration of what we see and how it is presented to us.
