8-1 Discussion: Reflection and Packing List (50 Points)
Congratulations as you have reached the final module of ENG 190! In this discussion, you will reflect on your research and writing throughout the course. Using the packing list as a guide, discuss areas of the research process that you can use in future writing situations.
Discussing challenges that face our world often means investigating opinions and ideas different from your own. Remember to remain thoughtful and respectful toward your peers and instructor in your initial and response discussion posts.
Create one initial post and respond to at least two of your classmates.
For your initial post, address the following:
- Of all the research and writing strategies covered in this course, from gathering sources to writing an outline to working on revisions, which have been most useful for you? Share at least two strategies. How can you apply these strategies in future courses and/or outside the classroom?
- What challenges did you face in developing your argument? What could you have done differently? If you aren’t sure what you could have done to improve, ask a question to your peers about what they found useful.
- Review the packing list located in the module resources page and identify at least two resources you will apply the next time you’re given a writing assignment, whether in school, work, or life. When answering consider the following:
For your response posts, address the following:
- What strategies, research and writing tools, and insights that your peer shared can you use in future courses or in your chosen profession?
- Share a specific tool to help your peer based on what they found challenging when developing their argument.
- How has discussing and sharing your work with others in the course impacted your research, writing, and revision process?
Remember, your contributions to the discussion play an important part in building the classroom learning community. This assignment is graded on the quality of your initial post and at least two response posts to your classmates.
