Since we’re still, in part, exploring the issue of the male and female gazes in women and film theory (and in relation to the limitations of Mulvey’s essay), consider the following in your discussion of The Ballad of Little Jo and The Piano.
Find a sequence from each film that enables you to discuss how the films complicate or refuse the terms of the male gaze as outlined by Mulvey.
