Discussion Board Question 3: The 2020 Atlantic Hurricane season was the most active in history with 30 named storms, 13 reaching hurricane status and 12 making landfall in the United States breaking the previous record in 2005 of 27 named storms. The only year on record to come remotely close to either was 1933 with 21 named storms. 2005 and 2020 were also two of the hottest years on record, with 2005 being the warmest in over 100 years and 2020 tied for the hottest year on record. Some climate scientists are now convinced that rising ocean temperatures, which are directly tied to global warming, are responsible for above active hurricane seasons. Do you think they are correct or are 2005 and 2020 just ‘fluke seasons’ that just happen now and then? Be sure to use examples to support your key points.
