Now that you’ve finished reading Dasgupta’s Very Short Introduction <ahem!>, write a short essay on one of his topics. (1 page or so; about 400-500 words) This essay is not primarily about giving your opinion! Rather you want to pick out one of the primary arguments that Dasgupta makes, summarize it in your own words, make the strongest possible case, then discuss what shortcomings remain. Many of the primary arguments in the book have immediate relevance to current policy choices — but don’t get too far down into the weeds of policy analysis. Dasgupta is building a framework and you should assess that frame.
