Is drug use a social problem?
Write a paper about a controversial issue from the course or textbook. The goal of the paper is for you to examine an issue that is opposite from your own personal view. Choose an issue that you feel strongly about. Additional topics need prior instructor approval. Be sure your paper includes the following:
One paragraph explaining your personal views on this topic
Then write 3-5 pages on the opposite stance
You must throughly research and describe the opposing view to your personal belief
Argue the pros and cons of this stance
Include in-text citations that demonstrate support of the opposing stance
Finally, write one paragraph summarizing what you learned
Note whether the research you conducted altered you own personal opinion and why
Your paper should be 4-6 pages in total not including title and references. Papers must have a minimum of five references though ten or more may be necessary to present a thorough argument.
All references must be from scholarly sources (i.e. textbooks and articles from peer-reviewed journals) NOT common sources (i.e. magazines, blogs, etc.)
