PED 433 CASE STUDY II

One of the most difficult and unpleasant tasks of the sport manager is to handle complaints and conflicts.

I want my fee back, it started to snow halfway through my golf game.

I want my money back, this is not a game, its a farce.

I want my $500 ski suite replaced; oil from the chair lift has ruined this one.

Im starting on the basketball team and Im only on a one-half scholarship. Two players not s starting are on a full ride. If Im not changed to a full scholarship now, Im transferring next semester.

Case II: you are the manager of a large outdoor public swimming pool with several hundred swimmers in attendance. Besides yourself there is a ticket taker and four lifeguards on duty. It is a cloudy day. There was a light thunder sound two minutes ago and then a louder one just now. You ring the warning bell and announce on the PA that everyone must leave the pool and return to the dressing rooms or leave the pool area. A large man who has just started swimming ignores the warning. A lifeguard tells him that he must leave and he shouts that he will not. A crowd of swimmers have gathered on the deck to see what happens. The swimmer shouts that he paid his money and he is going to have his swim. Take charge. How do you handle this situation?
