A female adolescent’s parents place a low priority on the value of education. In fact, they require her to care for her younger siblings instead of studying or completing a high school education. It is halfway through the semester. The student has lied to her parents, telling them that she has gotten into some trouble, and is required to stay an hour after school for the rest of the semester. She has lied to her parents in order to have time to study, as she hopes to attend college one day.
