The process of using curriculum alignment refers to both external and internal student learning. External alignment is when the curriculum addresses mandated standards and content objectives, whereas, internal alignment occurs when the instructional strategies and classroom assessments address the content of the standards (students’ performance is evaluated via test, etc.) Basically, curriculum alignment focuses on curriculum and instruction.

Curriculum audit is a process that focuses on what it will take for any school or school system to deliver teaching and learning in the most effective ways. It is a system of organizational analysis.

The curriculum mapping process is for recording what content and skills are taught in a classroom, school, or district during a longer period. The data provides an overview of what is happening over the course of a school year.
