ENGLISH

Your task in project one is to choose a text that presents an argument on English as global language and then perform a rhetorical analysis. The text you choose can be in any genre-including newspaper editorial, opinion sections of newspapers or magazines, blogs, websites, advertisements, signs, posters, and so on. Find a text that you would like to analyze for project one, read it through, and then explain why you’re interested in this text. Make sure to include the citation/link of the source (check out  to cite your source). Your responses should be in paragraph form. You may use the following guideline questions for your proposal:

1. Why did you choose this text for your rhetorical analysis? What ideas or aspects of the text piqued your interest?

2. Does the author of the text present an argument clearly related to English as a global language?

3. Why is this text appropriate for project one? How does it meet the criteria of texts described on the assignment sheet?

4. Does the text offer enough material for you to analyze? Is the length of the text sufficient for your analysis?

Then, use the following questions to help you respond to two of your classmates posts:

What are your thoughts about the text that they plan to explore?   Is your peer specific about how the text meets the criteria on the assignment sheet for project 1?  If not, what advice can you offer?  Share your own thoughts about the text that your peer has chosen. Click on the link of their source and discuss whether you think the source offers enough material to analyze.  Each of your responses should be at least 100 words.
