excerise and Sport Sociology

As stated on olympic.org, there are many reasons why hosting the Olympic Games is attractive to a city or country. The expectations that the event will have a positive impact, both tangible and intangible, on local communities is alive and well. From developing an underserved part of a city and expanding much-needed infrastructure to boosting the local economy and increasing tourism, hosting such a large-scale event can bring about great opportunities. However, cost overruns, questions over resource use and perceived corruption among other challenges have left some populations hesitant about their citys bid to host the Olympic Games.

In this case study Id like for you to examine the arguments for and against hosting the Olympic Games, and shine a light on the real experiences, both challenging and inspiring, faced by organizers. Your assignment is to discuss the 3 positive (worth 5 points) and 3 negative (worth 5 points) effects the Olympics can have on a host city after the games are over. Please designate a theory that applies to each positive and negative.

Please review chapter 10 of your book but you should also do your own research. Please explain your positive and negative effects in a 4-page (minimum) double spaced paper.
