Using Keeanga-Yamahtta Taylor’s chapter “Black Faces in High Places” and “The Double Standard of Justice” to inform your thoughts, why has Black formal political leadership largely been unable to relieve the structural inequalities of Black people that lead to day to day struggles and many falling within the net of criminality? In answering this question you are to use a city with existing Black leadership as evidence to support your thoughts (i.e. Atlanta, Baltimore, etc–you may also use Aldermen of particular districts and/or congressmen/women and senators, i.e. Antonio French of Ferguson, Sheila Jackson Lee, Kamala Harris).
This will require you to be critical as you pay attention to policy decisions and your thoughts on the matter at the same time.
