For this assignment, you will write a five-page (about 1,250 words double-spaced) long INFORMATIVE essay using and following all the guidelines and requirements below.
GENERAL FORMAT AND RESEARCH REQUIREMENTS:
1. Use a header that contains your name, professors name, class name and section, and date (refer to the MLA guidelines).
2. Type your written work using only Times New Roman, 12-point.
3. Any draft you share with another reader (say, for example, with the Writing Center staff) must also be typed and clean.
4. Maintain one-inch margins on top, bottom, and sides.
5. Length: If you plan to submit your paper for an A, you will need to submit at least five typed pages (papers that are too short may not receive a grade).
6. Line Spacing: double space your papers and indent the first line of each new paragraph by five spaces or hit the tab key once.
7. Do not quadruple space between paragraphs. Note that some word processors by default insert an extra space between paragraphs; please adjust accordingly.
8. Give a title to your paper.
9. Do not include a title page (thats an APA thing).
10. One paragraph should be your introduction that contains attention/orienting material that introduces your thesis. Your thesis should be your last sentence of the introduction.
11. Be sure to underline your thesis.
12. You should have enough supporting body paragraphs that develop your thesis. Each supporting paragraph (or block of paragraphs) should have a topic sentence. These paragraphs must relate to and develop your thesis.
13. As you develop each supporting paragraph, you must use specific supporting materials (examples) to substantiate your general ideas and statements.
14. Your essay must contain a concluding paragraph that briefly summarizes your main points and ends with a statement that wraps up your essay.
15. The last page of your essay should be your Works Cited page (not references or resources page) with your sources listed in the MLA format (The Works Cited page does not count towards the minimum length required).
16. You will need at least five sources for this essay in the Works Cited list.
17. You will need to use at least 5 in-text citations.
