Development Control

In his article Redevelopment: The Game that
Pits Good Intentions Against Harsh Realities, John Barber examines the challenges
currently facing many churches and communities in Canada today. These challenges reflect
many issues that are central to redevelopment and land use planning in general, including:
changing demographics, aging infrastructure, real estate market pressure, and NIMBYism.
Discuss these challenges and issues and relate them to what we learned about the need for
land use planners to implement planning policies and balance interests using the
development control instruments that we reviewed. Refer to the development at 321
Davenport Road as an example.
