God, Humanity, and Human Dignity

  DQ 1

The Christian concept of the imago Dei is that every human being was created in the image of God. This means not physically, but spiritually. Every human was born with Gods love in them. This love is shown by each human throughout their entire life. According to White, the imago Dei also displays that the foundation of human worth is the grace of God. In this view, human beings are creatures created by God, not existing of their own accord or because of random acts of chance. God created human beings because of God’s grace.

This is important to health care because being in the nursing role, patients count on our care in the most vulnerable times of their lives. Often, these times require compassion and a very personal touch of care and love in order for the patients to heal and recover. The imago Dei is relevant to health care through each nurse and healthcare member. Providing love through spiritual care is a huge part in recovery for a lot of patients.
