Note on Reading: The reading consists of brief introductory essays and prophetic texts from the Bronze Age-era Mari Archives and Neo-Assyrian tablets (first millennium BCE). Focus primarily on the translations. The texts are occasionally broken and fragmentary. They are brief glimpses of lost worlds and cultures that we dont know much about. Youll come across terms and names you wont be familiar with. The notes and introductory essays will help. Just do your best to try to make sense of the material. Its fine if it all doesnt make sense to you.
