Executive Summary

Instructions for the assignment:

Purpose:

The aim of the Executive Summary is to identify the link between theory and practice and how theory can be used for solutions for real problems.  The goal is to highlight what worksand what doesnt, delivering solid, useful information that brings real value.

Format:

Write a summary of the article that relays information that is practical, timely, and easy to read and understand.  Your Executive Summary will be three double-spaced, typed paragraphs totaling no more than two pages (not including your Title page and References page) and composed of three sections listed below.  Use Times New Roman, 12-point font, and 1-inch margins.  See the Note below about including your title page according to APA format.

  1. The WHAT a summary of the content of the article
  2. SO WHAT? — what you learned from the article
  3. NOW WHAT? — how you can use what you learned from the article

Note:

APA 7 provides slightly different directions for formatting the title pages of professional papers (e.g., those intended for scholarly publication) and student papers (e.g., those turned in for credit in a high school or college course).  Student papers do not include a running header with the title.  The only element in the header is the page number. Set up your title page exactly like the student paper in your APA text, page 61.
