You do not need to do any additional research for this assignment. You simply need to think about a topic and a research question that you would like to pursue for your final research proposal in this class (and maybe for a future project).
For example, you can choose a topic that is related to COVID-19, as we know this unprecedented pandemic has impact on everyone across many dimensions of our society (e.g. education, economy, mental health, criminal justice, parenting, racial disparities, gender role, etc.).

Your submission for this assignment will be a few paragraphs (limited to one page) and should include your research topic and question, as well as background and/or significance. Optional components may include types of research (basic or applied, exploratory or explanatory, etc.) and basic research strategies (inductive or deductive) and data designs (cross-sectional or longitudinal), if you already have some thoughts.
