Government fiscal crisis

Research a state or municipal government that has suffered a fiscal crisis, which may or may not have led to the formal declaration of bankruptcy.
Research past budgets and investigate how this fiscal crisis was caused. It is important that students show mathematical calculations using figures and data from these budgets (how expenditures exceeded revenues that ultimately caused this fiscal crisis).
Assess and detail all the decisions made by elected and government officials that led to this crisis.
Propose solutions on how this government entity (or other government entities) can prevent this from happening in the future. Avoid generic recommendations such as “don’t spend beyond its means” or “raise revenues”. It is important to show recommendations that take into account the realities of the municipality/state.
In a Word document, prepare a written report with APA-style citations in no less than 4 pages. Graphs and tables do not count towards the word count.
