The following prompt is based on your watching the 26 minute MLK interview that is found on your syllabus for this week:
In the 1967 CBS interview MLK talks new phase of Civil Rights Struggle, Martin Luther King argues that there has never been a single, solid determined commitment of large segments of white America on the whole question of racial equality. In what specific ways or issues, according to King, have most White Americans resisted or rejected meaningful attempts at promoting true racial equality in American society? Also, do you feel that his observations are still accurate when you observe current American society now that has been more than 50 years since he gave this interview? Explain why or why not.
Please respond to this question once on the thread and then also respond directly to one of your fellow student’s initial comments. Statements and responses must be based/supported by the actual material that we are examining this week (readings/documentaries, lectures, etc.).
