Egyptian art

If you were the king of Egypt, attempting to start a new dynasty after an Intermediate Period,
how would you use art and architecture to secure both your earthly power AND your eternal
legacy as a great king? Remember that you are not rich enough to do everything, you have to
make choices on what to focus on. Please discuss at least two major factors: 1) your image in
sculpture and portraiture, 2) a monument (or part of a monument) you would construct.
Describe the appearance and features of each one, and explain how those visual factors help
communicate that you are a good king, worthy of praise and respect. (For each category, you
get 4 points for description/analysis combined, = 8 points) In addition, consider the role of
gender and power in Egypt: if you are a female king, how might that be reflected (or concealed)
in the art, and why do you think those choices are important? If you are a male, consider the
role that the important women of your family may also have, and how you could include their
images as part of your own reign/dynasty as well. (NOTE: for this sake of this question you dont
have to use your REAL gender, you can answer as a hypothetical male or a female king,
whichever one you want)
