Patella Reflex Test
- Find the patella tendon (This should be done by a second person). Watch this video Patella Tendon Palpitation to help find the patella tendon
- You (student taking this class) should be sited calmly on a chair with the Femur making a 90 degree angle with the Tibia.
- At this point the individual assisting with this lab should proceed to strike your patella tendon quickly and firmly.
- The assisting partner should do at least 5 repetition strikes to test for the patella reflex
- Record the respond of your knee to the test in d.

- Next you and your assistant will test for the Babinski sign

- For this test, I advise to use the blunt end of a spoon
Observe to see if your toes flex or extend.

Report Rubric
Title: A suitable title for the experiments should be chosen
Introduction: This paragraph should contain introductory information about the reflexes
Materials & Methods: This section should briefly relay the methodology of each of the reflex tests carried out.
Discussion: This is the most important part of the report. Discuss results from both reflex tests carried out. Be sure to cite scientist journals to explain your results. A good source is PUBMED
Conclusion: This section should contain concluding remarks about the experiments carried out.
References: This section, usually on a separate page should contain citations used in the discussion. References should be written according to APA guidelines
Formatting: This report should be written using APA guidelines. i.e: Double Spaced, Times New Roman 12 font
