Portfolio Assignment
Utilize the outline below when creating your professional portfolio. Please use the headings and sub-headings in your portfolio. You may use first person as appropriate. Think of this assignment as creating a document that you can give to a potential employer at a job interview. Grading percentages are displayed below.
Knowledge, Skills, and Professional Development (25%)
- How you are striving to meet the standards for licensure and professional behavior
- How you intend to obtain ongoing professional development
- How discrete, identified knowledge and skills were integrated and applied in real clinical contexts in this practicum
- An example of your ability for continual self-reflection (less than 100 words)
- Your professional goals statement
- A current curriculum vitae (or resume)
Collaboration (10%)
- Your collaboration with supervisors and faculty
- Reflections on your counseling cases (no identifying information included)
Ethics and Application (25%)
- Reflections on ethical dilemmas and how you implemented the appropriate code of ethics in their resolution
- A counseling case study, with identifying information carefully removed, showing your
- counseling theoretical perspective,
- biopsychosocial assessment,
- a collaboratively constructed treatment plan,
- course of treatment, and
- discharge summary
Committees and Presentations (10%)
- Committee work at your counseling agency
- Presentations with at least one of the following: within the agency setting, at conferences, or professional meetings
Thesis Development and Purpose (7%)
Argument Logic and Construction (8%)
Mechanics of Writing (includes spelling, punctuation, grammar, language use) (5%)
Paper Format (use of appropriate style for the major and assignment) (5%)
Documentation of Sources (citations, footnotes, references, bibliography, etc., as appropriate to assignment and style) (5%)
