Using spring-mass system experiment to determine the masses of an unknown object:
Goal:
The spring-mass experiment is the step to find the unknown masses of objects using some given instrument and suitable procedure and following some hypothesis.
Hypothesis:
As mass at the end of the vertically hanging spring increase, its extension will increase too. It is according to Hook’s Law.
According to Hook’s Law,
In an ideal spring that is hanging vertically with attached mass as shown in following figure 1, the equilibrium of its compression or extension is directly proportional to its restoring force,
