Hi Everyone,
It is hard to believe it is already the end of this term. There are so many different career sites that can help provide a lot of insights that can help prepare individuals for their next steps. A site such as LinkedIn has multiple different avenues to travel. For employers it can be a great place to source talent. For candidates the can search/apply for jobs, take training courses, network, gain salary insights, resume build and so much more. The job descriptions help to provide education requirements, scope of role, possibly salary range and application steps.
For myself my ideal career is in the people space (Human Resources related). The part that I love about a people related role is that it promotes learning (to stay current on policies and procedures) and sharing out best practices with others. Most of the requirements related to these roles require either a BA/BS or MA/MS, previous experience, strong communication, compensation planning, supporting time away inquiries and many more administrative related functions. When reflecting on this course, an area of the role such as compensation plan relies heavily on budgeting. Knowing what the company is spending on helps one in a people role to calculate labor cost and build out compensation plans. Module 8 that focused on budgeting including specific areas like labor cost is a particularly useful section of the reading this term. Throughout my career I have rediscovered the importance of reviewing what I have learned and ensuring that I am always attempting to learn new skills. Good luck on your career pursuits ahead.

My dream job has been to work at DraftKings Sportsbook on the business side of it. The role I would ideally want would be the Sportsbook operations specialist. There is certain business required that I would need to know in this as well as a lot of business operations stuff. Currently the best things on my resume are how I promote work with pictures of the finished product and being loyal staying at the same job should stand out the most on my resume.
I feel that everything I learned in this class would be useful in some way to getting this job. Even if it’s not directly related to the job as this is more of a accounting class opposed to just business. I do feel like being able to learn stuff like the profit and losses is important in a Sportsbook industry though as you need to know profit gains and losses in betting. I think that will help me the most in my career pursuing this job.
