PROMPT: Thinking about your own culture, what is an example of a belief, practice, or symbol that would be interesting to study anthropologically?For this reflection, make connections between your own experiences and material presented in class, including readings and lecture presentations. How do you define “your own culture?” How do cultural and linguistic anthropologists study different beliefs, practices, or symbols? What makes the belief, practice, or symbol you’ve selected interesting to you, and why?

REQUIREMENTS

  • Your reflection should be between 500 and 750 words, not including bibliographic citations or references, and written in a first-person perspective (i.e., using “I” pronouns). Your submission may be either single- or double-spaced and must include a bibliography or works cited.  
  • You must cite at least three course concepts and reference at least two chapters from our textbook. You are strongly encouraged to define course concepts and ideas in your own words, e.g., paraphrasing rather than directly quotingcourse materials
