Let’s expand this discussion beyond EBOLA in order to display the true risk faced by health care workers. I want to encourage you to look into the situation of MERS-CoV in Korea. MERS is not easily transmitted from person to person yet we have had about a thousand cases. The key point to understand is these thousand cases were health care workers. The people who had traveled from the Saudi Arabian Peninsula were “doctor shopping”. If one physician did not give them the correct answer they would just move on to another.

All the Medical Assistants and Nurses that were helping index cases a long the way were very close to the infected. This close contact was necessary to transmission. Just wanted to bring this up as another outbreak to discuss.
