Addressing public health issues involves identifying concerns through assessments of public health, implementing policies to improve the issues, and securing access to the services needed (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 2021). It is a complex process involving politics, government, university research, and many other factors.  

As a public health analyst, your leadership team has identified a public health issue in your community. You have been tasked with creating a research summary to provide the leadership team with more information to make an informed plan.

Preparing for This Assignment:

The PERIE (Problem Etiology Recommendations Implementation & Evaluation) model is a process to solve problems.

Choose 1 public health issue prevalent in your community. You will also use this issue for the Wk 2 – Summative Assessment: Public Health Presentation.

Research state, local, and national government health agency websites for information on your chosen public health issue.

Assignment Directions:

Write a 350- to 700-word summary of your findings in which you detail how different government agencies address your chosen public health issue at local, state, and national levels. In your summary, identify the following as it relates to your chosen public health issue:

The type of structures within the local, state, and national levels of government  

The functions of each level of government (focus on the local and state levels)

How the levels of government coordinate with each other to address public health issues

Cite specific examples from your research to validate your points.

Format your citations according to APA guidelines.
