Respond to the two prompts below. Your responses should be a minimum of 400 words for each prompt. After you have posted your responses to these two prompts, review your classmates’ posts, and respond to a minimum of four of your classmates. Responses should be a minimum of 80 words each and be more than just “I agree.” Be thoughtful and professional to your classmates.
The post closes Tuesday. Note that there is no required due date for the initial post. I do encourage you to post your initial response by Sunday to allow time for four (4) replies. Review the Discussion Rubric for guidance.
1. Research your local area and find at least five youth organizations near you. If you live in an area that has a limited number of youth organizations, then you should branch out in your search and look at the nearest city or other regional area in Florida to locate youth organizations.
For each organization, discuss who their target population is, how they were founded, how they are funded, and describe some things you like about their organization or the activities they perform. Do any of these organizations focus on service-learning or community engagement activities?
Don’t just copy and paste from their website, instead, investigate them a bit and answer the prompts above in your own words and thoughts.
2. Describe one population of kids that you consider to be underserved at the moment. Why do you feel this way? What evidence do you have? (not just what you think or what is in the news – do some research) How might we, as a community serve this population of kids better? What resources might you seek to help serve them? Be specific in your responses.
