“The Engage Phase of inquiry serves to anchor a unit, allowing students to search for connections between prior and new experiences.” The authors “like to think of The Engage Phase and the Focus Phase as intertwined, seeking evidence of student thinking to plan appropriately” for the next phases (Marschall & French, 2018, p.99).
The word ENGAGEMENT seems to be overused and misunderstood when planning instruction. Now that you have read Chapter Four, identify three ways you will change your planning due to the content of chapter four.
