REQUIREMENTS FOR PAPER #1: ARTIST BIOGRAPHY
For this first paper, you are asked to conduct research on a public figure that you are personally interested in. This public figure must be involved in shaping our mass culture. You may focus on an individual from any area of mass media including film, television, popular music, literature, theatre, fashion, advertising, or journalism. However, you will want to carefully consider the subject for your biography.
You should limit your topic to a single individual and present a detailed biography of the chosen subject. For the biography you will want to focus on 3-4 key contributions from the individual and examine the significance of each contribution in detail. As an analysis the goal is to be specific!
Consider the following format for your paper:
Introduction – ½ page
1 page – General overview of their life/career.
1st Contribution – 1 page
2nd Contribution – 1 page
3rd contribution – 1 page
Conclusion – ½ page
This first paper is objective in nature and is primarily aimed at testing your skills as a researcher and writer. For this assignment, you are not required to analyze or evaluate any specific messages. Your paper should be about the person’s background and career not on your own personal evaluations of the individual.
This paper should develop factual, objective, historical, information related to your chosen subject.
Sources: The content of your paper should reflect research from at least three reputable research sources.
Wikipedia cannot be used as a source for this research paper. However, you can use wiki footnotes to help find credible sources, but be careful where you find your research!
Cite the sources in the text of your paper, in addition to citing them in your works cited page.
