Professional development is a common practice for growth in higher education. As a faculty member, you may be asked to present your area of expertise to colleagues. When creating these professional development presentations, it is important they be informative, engaging, and immediately applicable to the participants.
Imagine you are the faculty lead for your content area. Your college dean has asked you to create a professional development session for instructors in your content area about creating course level curriculum for the upcoming semester. Create a 12-15 slide digital presentation that describes best practices when designing curriculum for the higher education setting. If applicable, you may use the college or university where you are currently for reference. Include the following in your presentation:
- Describe the steps in the higher education course development process.
- Identify the stakeholders who are usually involved in the curriculum development process and describe their roles in the process.
- Identify best practices in creating curriculum in higher education.
- Explain differences between curriculum development in a two-year versus a four-year educational institution.
- Title slide, presenter’s notes, and reference slide.
Support your presentation with a minimum of three scholarly resources.
