Discussion Questions
1. Describe your practicum site’s (South Central Regional Medical Center-Social Worker) services to individuals, families, and communities. Which of the core concepts do their services address and how? In watching these services address the core concepts you mention, discuss how that is impacting your view of the interrelatedness of the core concepts.
- Discussion Boards are an important part of an online learning environment. It allows students to get to know one another and to explore and discuss topics pertaining to course content. Here is your opportunity to engage with fellow classmates.
- In this course, you will complete three scheduled journals relating practicum experiences to the mission of FCS and the 3 themes of the BOK: Core Concepts, Integrative Elements, and Cross Cutting Themes. These journals will be posted on a discussion board so students can review their peers’ practicum experiences and how they relate to the themes of the BOK. This is your first AAFCS BOK Journal discussion.
2. For this discussion, you must first select a piece of 2D art that interests you from your home. Any art that is flat or only has two dimensions: length and height but no depth is 2D art. There are many media in 2D-art, including drawing, painting, prints, collage, photography/video, graphic design, and animation.
Choose a work that has meaning to you so you can discuss what you felt when you experienced it.
Next, take a photograph of the 2D-work and upload it to the Discussion Board. After identifying the artist and when the work was created, answer each of the following questions. Each answer should be 2 to 3 sentences.
- Who is the artist and when was the work created?What is the meaning of the work to you? (See pages 41 to 48 in the textbook.)
- What is the work’s purpose?
- Why was the work created? (See pages 49 to 53 in the textbook.)
- What do you like about the work?
- What do you dislike about the work?
If no initial posts exist to allow for a response to be made, you may submit an additional initial post addressing another aspect of the unit topic.
3. Please note that there are two posts needed to successfully complete the discussion board assignment. An initial post addressing the discussion board topic is due by end of day Saturday. A response post to at least one other student is due by end of day Tuesday.
Part I: Introduce yourself to your classmates with your name, location, current employment, and future goals.
Part II: Share the characteristics you feel make a good working environment. How can leaders support employees and encourage job satisfaction?
In your responses to one another, further comment on the characteristics. For example, provide an example of an effective working environment or what makes you feel supported.
