Using the assignment from April 17 where you analyzed one element from The Ballad of Black Tom as a jumping off point, you are to do a close, critical analysis of your chosen element in that assignment. You will trace your chosen element throughout the novella and argue your perspective. You will also provide supporting evidence from the novella and at least one scholarly source. Use the TCCD databases to find your scholarly article. You are also to situate your argument within Cohen’s Seven Theses. I encourage you to craft a literary thesis and argument with one (or, at the most, two) of his theses as foundational to your argument. Finally, you will use literary tense where appropriate in your novella analysis.

Use the video, Gutting an Article, to help you read through scholarship. Keep in mind that online websites (including Wikipedia) are not scholarly sources.

Your final paper should be from 5-7 double-spaced pages, have a a Works Cited page (that does not count towards the 5-7 required pages), and be in correct MLA 9 format.

Your final paper must be solely conceived and written by you. Plagiarized or AI-produced work will earn an automatic zero and will have no chance for revision. No exceptions.

Your final paper is due by 11:59 p.m. Saturday, May 4. No extensions will be granted for this assignment.
