Purpose: Students will examine and outline their own views on public health. This will be an opportunityto examine your current understanding of public health, acting as a starting point of your understanding ofthe topic prior to participation and learning in class throughout the semester.Instructions: Students will write a 4-page paper outlining their current understandings and views ofpublic health. This will be a reflective piece examining your current view and looking at it through:1) Your current beliefs and attitudes about public health (or what you think is public health)generally and as a field2) Your life experiences and personal values which may have influenced your beliefs/attitudes upto this point3) The cultural influence that has formed/influenced your views and beliefs4) Your thoughts on the impact of your beliefs regarding public health in your future life, e.g.,personally (individually, with others–relationships, family, etc.) and professionallyThis paper is a free writing exercise and will differ for every individual. However, formatting shouldgenerally include an introduction, body and a conclusion, and be as follows:● 4 pages● Double-spaced● 11-12 pt font● Times New Roman (or similar font)● Use of headings
