 The microneedle study done at Georgia Institute of Technology and Emory University was a controlled study where participants were divided into 4 groups. Explain what a controlled study is and why it is necessary to use this method when determining the safety and effectiveness of the microneedles.
 Using your knowledge of the dermal layer of the skin, explain the structures in that layer that make it an ideal method of distributing a vaccine – include structures involved in the immune response in your answer.

What advantages does the size of the needles have in applying the vaccine?
