It requires you to review a case study, and then develop a short PowerPoint presentation. Your presentation will consist of a mind map, accompanied by an audio narration explaining your thought process and analysis of the case study.
First, review the following case study.
Mrs. Hernandez is a 50-year-old woman who has felt poorly and tired all the time for the past several months. She has also noticed that it seems her kidneys are active more than usual. She went to her doctor to get her thyroid level checked. The doctor found her thyroid level to be normal but found her blood sugar to be 250.
After considering Mrs. Hernandez’s situation, create a mind map to visually represent your responses to the following prompts:
- Could low thyroid hormone levels have caused her symptoms? What indicators cause to suspect this?
- What other symptoms can low thyroid levels cause that she should look out for?
- What are the three types of diabetes, and how do they differ from each other? Which type does Mrs. Hernandez have?
- Do you believe insulin is warranted? Why, or why not?
- What other treatment do you think a doctor will advise for Mrs. Hernandez?
There is no standard format for a mind map, so you may create yours however you choose. The goal is simply to create a visualization of your responses to the prompts. Keep it simple and readable; you will be adding narration to explain things in further detail.
There are many free resources online such as Canva, Miro, and Mindomo that you can use to create a mind map to illustrate your thoughts. You can also search the internet to find many free templates and examples.
Next, insert your mind map image into a PowerPoint presentation. Your mind map should be at least one slide in length, but no more than two slides in length (excluding a title slide, if used).
Finally, from the Record tab in PowerPoint, utilize the Audio function to record narration to your mind map slide(s). Use the narration to explain your mind map, as you walk your audience through your thought process in analyzing this case study. Your narration must be at least a total of 90 seconds, but no longer than two minutes. (For this part just type out what I should say and I will record this part)
The use of external sources and APA formatting is not required for this assignment.
