For this assignment, you have utilized Lance Armstrong’s livestrong.com site, which is directed toward athletes to determine how they are consuming food. Each athlete has different goal: either to gain weight, lose weight, or simply perform at a higher level. Along with the psychological aspects to sport, diet and nutrition become a critical factor in the success of athletes and their goals. This assignment will consist of the coach using either themselves or an athlete of choice as the athlete for whom a healthy eating plan will be developed. Review the data from the livestrong.com site, and create a healthy eating plan for you or your athlete.
Describe your healthy eating plan in a paper. Your paper should include, but is not limited to, answers to these questions:
What sport does the athlete play, and what goals and other factors may influence his or her decision process for choosing the right foods? Please be sure to utilize the principles in chapter 8 on how the mind may affect an athlete’s physical performance with nutritional choices.
What are the current eating habits as documented in the livestrong.com site?
What are the daily recommendations based on your current customized plate?
What are the various classes of nutrients currently in the diet and what are their functions, including any nutrient-rich foods and nutrient-lacking foods consumed?
