The period covered in this course has been characterized as an Age of Democracy. Define the term democracy, and then reflect on whether or not your definition fits the varied political, social, cultural, racial, or economic changes from 1780 to 1865. In your answer, be sure to evaluate both sides of the issue for or against the idea of the era as democratic. In addition, your answer should bring in a variety of documentary sources, as well as secondary sources from the course.
Your essay needs to be between 6-8 pages, double spaced, with 12 point font. You must cite your sources, preferably with parenthetical citation. (Author, Page Number). You should also include a list of cited sources at the end of your paper.
