Since you are opting to do the final paper, you will need to gather a minimum of 7 sources to draw from for your research on your genre-of-expertise.
You will then produce an annotated bibliography. This is essentially a works cited page, with each article being accompanied by a full paragraph summarizing the arguments that the author makes.
The research paper will prompt you to cover the same topics we are in our weekly assignments. The genre keywords assignment is intended for you to focus on distribution (the formation of fandoms and other listening communities), the album cover analysis asks you to focus on circulation (how it is advertised and sold to folks), the annotated playlist asks for an attention to reproduction (the historical development of your genre), and the tik tok video asks you to focus on consumption (how it gets your body to move and the idealized listening environments for your genre). The capstone then shifts the focus to production (as you compare the careers and works of 2 particular artists and their oeuvre). The 7 articles or chapters that you gather must help you to address these different areas of study, and the annotations to your citations will help communicate that to me.
