antibiotic misuse in primary settings

Research Problem

Misuse of antibiotics has a great negative impact on the body, such as death of healthy gut flora and Cdiff. infection. Ultimately, microorganisms develop resistance to antibiotics which leads to failure to future treatments. Fortunately, misuse of antibiotics in most cases can be prevented by using proper education.

Problem Statement

Although antibiotics are crucial to society, their misuse in the United States causes many health issues within the general public. Oftentimes it is related to lack of education among the population.

Research Questions

How can nurses prevent misuse of antibiotics?
What tools can be used to educate and evaluate the public?

Hypothesis
Providing proper information and resources to the patients can lower misuse of antibiotics.

Statement of Purpose
Since the beginning of my nursing career I realized that often times the public is not using the antibiotics properly as well as when it is not necessary. Misusing antibiotics can be harmful to the body and potentially kill healthy gut bacteria, This can cause the allergies, but most often increases the development of multiresistant bacteria. The purpose of this paper is to describe the different ways antibiotics are incorrectly used, discussing people perspectives, assess the knowledge of the population and investigate the best teaching methods that are appropriate for the general public.

Aims/Objectives
The overall objective of this paper is to identify the strategies to improve the situation on antibiotic misuse.
Specifically, the paper seeks to
discover the ways of antibiotic misuse
Assess the knowledge of the public
Identify the most useful methods to educate and evaluate the patients.
