Zacchaeus the Tax Collector
Luke 19:1-10
We begin with a few points regarding the text.
Jesus was traveling to somewhere else as He was passing through Jericho, stopping to visit with Zacchaeus. One wonders if we, in our haste to get to the next appointment, while speeding and talking on our cell phone, would intentionally stop and make contact with a passerby.
Jesus was also intentional about inviting Himself to the home of someone who would cause a fair amount of talk. One wonders if Jesus was concerned about the murmurings of the crowd. Further, would we be concerned?
The impact that Jesus made on Zacchaeus was immediate and obvious. One wonders about the impact the people of God are making on those with whom they come into contact on a regular basis.
Below are a few questions to consider.
What were the things that set Zacchaeus apart from others?
How did the crowd react to Jesus going to Zacchaeus home?
How did Zacchaeus encounter with Christ impact his life?
Emphasis on a shift from evangelism as doing to evangelism as being. We will examine Biblical examples of evangelism as a lifestyle and how they can apply to our own marketplace ministry. Also, we will also examine current cultural forces and barriers that will give birth to innovative ways to model the gospel of Christ.
