All human societies use myths, or stories, to help explain their cultures sense of understanding the world around them, or paradigm. Myths help societies better know their identity & place in the universe. While we tend to dismiss myths as flights of fancy, they are invaluable to all cultures, and as such are used by all cultures, ancient & modern.
Compare & contrast at least 2 myths and explain how they might be used to explain the origin (aetiology) of something valued by that society. The myths can be ancient, modern, Eastern, Western etc. What do these stories say about a community & its values? Keep in mind that any story including history, fact & science act as cultural myths, so keep your mind open and enjoy!
