You have to write an essay of at least 500 words in response to questions. Read the question carefully before choosing a thesis you wish to write about. Brainstorm ideas before you begin to write and leave time to edit and proofread. Remember that the essay will be graded on the four main categories we have worked on: main idea, organization, support with quotations, and the mechanics of words and sentences.
Your introduction should state your thesis clearly, and each body paragraph should elaborate on and support that thesis using specific details and examples from the texts. Avoid repetition. The conclusion should restate your thesis in different words. Proofread for readability. — Is there a subject/verb agreement? Have you avoided fragments and/or run-ons?
Be sure to have a clear thesis in the first paragraph. Use at least three quotations from different readings that were assigned to support your position. If you decide to use the movie as a source, you may paraphrase rather than quote.
Are there good role models in the movie you watched and the stories and poems you read? Why? What lessons have you learned? (Ethics, Valley of the Gun, The Writer, Gregory, and The Wedding Banquet)
