The position paper serves three purposes. The first is to provide space for you to analyze the required readings and identify the necessary elements that relate to strategic planning within the context of HSEP. The second purpose is to provide constructive criticism and analysis of the required readings and how they relate to you as an individual and professional. The third purpose is to demonstrate this understanding and analysis to the instructor. Your paper should present a logical argument and demonstrate an understanding of the readings. It should be clearly organized and well written, without errors that distract from the presentation of your thoughts.
Part 1: What is your position on the intersection of strategic planning and management for the HSEP context?
Now that you have analyzed the required readings, take time to provide a position on the material utilizing all the required readings.
A position paper presents an arguable opinion about an issue. The goal of a position paper is to convince the audience that your opinion is valid and worth listening to. Your job is to take one side of the argument and persuade your audience that you have well-founded knowledge of the topic being presented. It is important to support your argument with information from the required readings and your own personal and professional observations.
Part 2: What is being said within each of the required readings?
For this portion of the reaction worksheet, provide a summary of the required readings for the module. Within this summary, address the following questions for each reading and justify your responses:

What context, background, history, or explanation is given for this topic/question?
What is the authors purpose in writing about this?
Why does the author feel it is important?
