Research Problem: To assess the effectiveness of a ten-week Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) intervention; as well as a ten-week CBT in combination with SSRI medications, for the treatment of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), thirty Middle East War veterans diagnosed with PTSD were randomly assigned to either the CBT treatment group (n = 10), the CBT+SSRI treatment group (n = 10), or Waiting Control Group (n = 10). At the end of the tenth week all participants were administered a battery of psychological tests including the Beck Depression Inventory (Beck, et al., 1988), the Beck Hopelessness Scale (Beck, 1988), the Beck Anxiety Inventory (Beck et al., 1988), and the Perceived Stress Scale (Cohen, et al., 1983). Using the attached spss data file analyze the results and summarize the findings in correct APA Style:
Specifically,
1) Describe the research question and the research design.
2) Create the Null and Alternative Hypotheses. Use statistical notation to state the main effects you will examine (see Warner p. 778).
3) Optional – Check for normality and outliers (Analyze>Descriptive Statistics>Explore) and for the homogeneity of the variance/covariance matrixes (Analyze>General Linear Model > Multivariate> options > homogeneity tests). Comment on the results of these tests. Even if you do not meet the model assumptions, continue with the remainder of the analysis.
4) Conduct the MANOVA, with follow-up Univariate ANOVAs
5) Optional Conduct Roy-Bargmann’s Stepdown Analyses.
5) Within your summary include a correctly formatted (APA Style) table and figure. Be sure to refer to the table within the summary.
6) Plot the means. Be sure to refer to the figure within the summary.
7). Create an APA formatted table of the MANOVA results. Be sure to refer to the table within the summary.
8). Fully summarize the results for the MANOVA in correct APA style. Be sure to report and summarize the results from MANOVA. Be sure to report and interpret the effect sizes. Report and summarize the results for (Bonferronis) post hoc mean comparison tests. Model your summary after my sample summary.
9) Be sure to explain what conclusions can be drawn from the study.
10) Attach the SPSS output in an appendix to your paper.
