Assignment: 4 pages in length (double-spaced, 12-point new times roman font) and utilize a minimum of 3 academic sources (see specific instructions for each assignment below). Assignments should not exceed 5 pages of written work in length (this is an absolute maximum). The assignments are due February 4. Each one should be uploaded as either a word doc or PDF to the correct folder on our UM learn course page. Students must include a bibliography and proper in-text citations (either Chicago or MLA must be used). Academic sources are required for each assignment. Each written assignment will be worth 15% and the instructor will provide a writing tutorial in class prior to the due date of the first assignment.Instructions:Writing Assignment #1 (due Feb 4): Religion & Politics The first written assignment will examine the relationship between religion and politics within a particular context. Students must choose from one of the following case studies and then explain how religion and politics are intertwined with one another. A minimum of two academic books or journal articles are required for this assignment. Religion and Politics in: France, Saudi Arabia, United States, Australia, or Iran. Pick ONE country and consider the following questions in your response: How are religion and politics related within this case study? Is there a majority religion that is most accepted? Are religious minorities persecuted? Is political and religious authority tied together or separate? How does religion influence policymaking or law? (One example is all that is needed)
