Black Lives Matter protesters were advocating for community to care about the lives and dignity of people of color in the same way that it values the existence and dignity of white folks. Three Black activist individuals, Opal Tometi, Alicia Garza, and Patrisse K.-Cullors, co-founded the movement as an online community.
