Book Report

Write a book report of Little Girls in Pretty Boxes by Joan Ryan. The report needs to take the form of a formal academic essay, with a title page, draft of double-spaced writing, and a reference list. The report must include a minimum of 8 full pages of draft writing. 

In the report, you are asked to do the following and answer the following questions:

a)  Summarize the key arguments and themes of the book 

What are the significant arguments or themes in Ryans book? How does the author explain these arguments / themes (in other words, what does she discuss to help explain her points)? 

b)  Relate the book to some of the key concepts and information (for example power/knowledge; subjectivity; the contradictory female athlete, intersectionality, media coverage)

What key concepts are exemplified in the book? Discuss at least 3 key concepts (for example, power/knowledge; subjectivity; the contradictory female athlete, intersectionality, media coverage)

c)  Analyze the books significance to contemporary womens sports 

How the book, which was originally published in 1995, help us better understand the gender and social politics of womens sport? Is the book still relevant to contemporary issues in womens sport? 

Cite and reference the Joan Ryan book. Use a citation style (APA, Chicago-style footnotes or endnotes, etc). Technical Requirements: 

1. Must use double spacing throughout 

2. 1-inch margins on all sides 

3. Times New Roman, 12-pt. font 

4. Citations and References in a formal reference style APA format.
