Discussion week 8- build your own polynomial

This week we dive into polynomials.  Build your own polynomial by answering the following and write your answer in standard form:

????(????)=????????3+????????2+????????+????f(x)=ax3+bx2+cx+d

1. The number of classes you are taking= the y intercept

2. The number of pets you have ever owned= the first zero

3. The number of states you have visited= the second zero

4. the number of months until you reach your birthday month= the third zero.  

For example, in my case, here is what my response would look like:

1. I have 4 classes. So y intercept is (0,4)

2. I have owned 5 pets. First zero is (5,0)

3.  I have traveled to 10 states.  Second zero is (10,0)

4.  I have 11 months until my birthday month. Third zero is (11,0)

so, ????(????)=????(????5)(????10)(????11)f(x)=a(x5)(x10)(x11)

Now solve for a using the y intercept, and convert polynomial to standard form 🙂
